In the book, Myth of the Paperless Office, it comes to light that files have three life stages, which the authors term “hot, warm, and cold.” This is a pretty useful concept, and it’s worth exploring a bit.
I just watched Johnny Goldstein’s movie about implementing the Noguchi Filing System, something I’ve planned to implement myself in the next week or so.
The movie’s pretty straightforward, and Johnny’s mostly got it right (I think… most of the information about the NFS is in Japanese, after all), but I do have a couple of comments [...]
Changing how I store the Someday/Maybe list from a file box to an attractive wall display has made it more useful and changed it from a black hole of no return into something that invites comment and contribution.
